Andrew J. Morris, Ph.D.

Andrew is a Professor of Internal Medicine at UK and a Research Investigator at the Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center.  His personal research program concerns roles for lipids in intracellular metabolism and extracellular signaling and he has authored more than 200 publications in this area.   He received shared instrumentation grants from the NIH to purchase some of the core equipment while other items of equipment were purchased using his personal research funds.  He oversees operation of the facility, consults on experimental design and data interpretation and collaborates on mass spectrometry-based investigations with researchers at UK and other institutions.


Manjula Sunkara, M.S.

Manjula is is responsible for day to day operation of the core laboratory.  Manjula has an extensive background in analytical chemistry with experience in the design and implementation of tandem mass spectrometry assays for small molecules gained in both academia and industry which includes advanced training in the oversight upkeep and operation of advanced instrumentation. 

  Sony Soman, Ph.D.

Sony works with Manjula to maintain our instrumentation, develop and perform HPLC MS/MS assays and routine high resolution MS measurements.
